No. 11 Tiger Men's Golf Hits The Florida Links For Fall Preview

No. 11 Trinity Men's golf heads to Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida for the NCAA D-III Fall Preview.
 
Last Time
 
The Tiger Men placed third in the White Bluff Tri Match in Whitney, Texas. Andre Follmer (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis) shot 3 under for the three rounds and placed second. Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) carded 1 under for the tournament and placed fourth. Follmer had 13 birdies and 1 eagle throughout the tournament and Sandhu had 1 eagle and 39 pars. Carter Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada / Manning) recorded 2 under on the final day and had the low round for the team. 
 
SAA Men's Golf Athlete of the Week- Andre Follmer 
 
For the first time in his career, Follmer was awarded the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Athlete of the Week. 
 
From the SAA Press Release 
 
Follmer finished second to lead the 11th-ranked Trinity men's golf team at the Texas Tri-Match event held this week at the White Bluff Golf Resort. Follmer shot an even-par 72 in the first of two rounds on Monday, finishing with four birdies to remain even. Playing in his first collegiate tournament and his second round of the day, Follmer then added six more birdies to his afternoon to finish with a three-under 69 that wound up as the best round of the day in the entire field. The Tiger rookie started Tuesday's round with a bogey and a double on the first three holes, but he was still able to battle back and finish with another even-par 72 score to hold onto his second-place spot. Follmer accomplished this with an eagle on the par-5 sixth and finished with three birdies on his final six holes to close the tournament.
 
Preview- NCAA D-III Fall Preview
 
The Tigers will go to Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida and play in the NCAA D-III Fall Preview at Mission Resort and Club on Sunday, September 21 through Tuesday, September 23.

Scouting the Course: The Tiger Men will play two courses at Mission Inn Resort and Club, El Campeón and Las Colinas. El Campeón tips out at 7,015 yards and is a par 72. Hole 7 and Hole 17 are both difficult par 5s that require accurate tee shots and second shots to avoid the trees and water. No. 8 requires a very precise tee shot to hit an island green surrounded by bunkers. Las Colinas tips out at 7,139 yards and is par 71. Hole 12 requires a very accurate tee shot to avoid hazard on both sides of the fairway. No. 5 is a difficult par 5 that has water protecting the green and requires a tee shot to cut the corner of the dog leg. 
 
Looking Ahead
 
The Tigers will be hosting their home event the Carla Spenkoch Invitational at the Quarry Golf Course on October 6 through October 7.
