GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Trinity University football team had seven players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team for the 2025 season.
Senior offensive lineman
Caleb Bayer (Grandview, Texas / Grandview), senior quarterback
Collin Bishop (Childress, Texas / Childress), senior long snapper
John Adrian Dioli (Hillsborough, Calif. / Sacred Heart Prep), sophomore quarterback
Hondo Franklin (Allen, Texas / Lovejoy), fifth-year offensive lineman
Joe Mehary (Dallas, Texas / Parish Episcopal School), senior defensive back
Anthony Njoku (Richmond, Texas / Travis), and senior linebacker
TJ Scannell (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) were all picked for this year's team.
Dioli and Njoku are both repeat honorees, while Bayer was selected for the third time in his career. Bishop, Franklin, Mehary, and Scannell all made the list for the first time. Bayer, Bishop, Dioli, and Mehary are all three-time Southern Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll members, with Franklin, Njoku, and Scannell all earning the same honors at least once in their careers. Bayer also earned First Team All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association, the Associated Press, and D3football.com and was awarded the Rimington Trophy as the top center in Division III. Scannell was an AP Third Team All-American and a D3football.com All-Region honoree.
The seven Tigers led Trinity to a 10-2 overall record, and a 6-1 SAA record this season. The team made the NCAA Playoffs for the fifth consecutive season, advancing to the Third Round and finishing with a #16 final ranking by both the AFCA and D3football.com national polls.
