ABILENE, TX - The Trinity University men's tennis team ended the 2026 ITA Southwest Regional Championships just as it ended last year's, with both titles. On Sunday,
Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills)won a rematch of last year's singles final, then teamed with
Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) to avenge last year's doubles loss. The wins completed Trinity's third straight sweep of the regional championships.
The singles final reversed last year's result. In 2025, Kersten came back from a set down to beat Perry, and this time it was Perry who rallied. Kersten, the top seed and defending champion, took the opening set 6-3. The second-seeded Perry evened the match with a 6-3 second set and pulled away in the third for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory.
A few hours later, the two finalists were back on the court as partners in another rematch. The top-seeded pair faced defending champions
Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and
Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs), who had upset them 7-5, 7-6 (10-8) in last year's final. Kersten and Perry took the first set 6-4 before Flores and Kamath answered with a 6-4 set to force a match tiebreaker. This time Kersten and Perry came out on top, winning it 10-8, the same score that decided last year's final.
The titles also earned both players national honors. Perry is now an ITA All-American in singles, and he and Kersten are doubles All-Americans. The two honors makes Perry a five-time ITA All-American, and Kersten a a three-time ITA All-American.
Trinity's depth showed throughout the weekend. The Tigers placed five players in the singles Quarterfinals and three in the Semifinals, and three of the four doubles Semifinal teams were from Trinity. Newcomer
Kartick Gusain (Cambridge, Canada / Ontario Virtual) was one of the tournament's breakout performers. He reached the singles Semifinals and teamed with fellow newcomer
Fabio Di Loreto (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands) to reach the doubles Semifinals.
