Pinehurst, North Carolina – The No. 19 Trinity Women's Golf team finished third at the Centre College Classic after completing final-round play at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club No. 1.
The Tigers posted a 316 (+32) in round two to finish with a 622 total (306-316) across 36 holes. Washington University in St. Louis claimed the tournament title, but Trinity battled through a demanding final day to secure another podium finish against strong national competition. With the final-round scoring average rising to 85.14, conditions proved difficult across the field, yet the Tigers did enough to protect their position and hold off Huntingdon by two shots to remain in third place.
Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) led Trinity with a 76 (+4) in the final round to finish at +6 overall (73-75), earning a tie for second individually. After a difficult front nine, Mason responded with an even-par back nine, highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 11th that helped steady her round and keep Trinity firmly in third. Mason's consistency across 36 holes stood out as she led the entire field with 27 pars and finished tied for second in Par 5 scoring at two-under.
Mason Fikes (Dallas, Texas / Plano West) shot an 80 (+9) on Sunday to finish at +15 overall (77-80), placing 17th individually. Fikes opened with two birdies on the front nine and was one of only a handful of players in the field to record three birdies for the tournament, tying for eighth overall in that category.
Natalie Lewis (El Paso, Texas / Coronado) carded an 80 (+9) in the final round to finish at +16 overall (78-80), tying for 18th. Lewis recorded 22 pars over the tournament, tied for seventh most in the field, showing consistency across both rounds and helping Trinity maintain stability in a higher-scoring final day.
Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) recorded an 81 (+10) to finish at +17 overall (78-81), tying for 20th. Huddleston battled through early adversity and produced three birdies, a team high in the final round. She also tied for fifth in the field in Par 3 scoring for the tournament, an area that proved important in Trinity's overall success.
Naaz Mehta (Newton, Pa. / Council Rock North) finished with an 83 (+12) to conclude at +24 overall (83-83), placing 31st individually. Mehta added two birdies in round two and competed hard throughout the day, delivering important depth scoring as Trinity secured its podium finish.
As a team, the Tigers were particularly strong on the Par 3s, finishing tied for second in the field in Par 3 scoring. That performance, combined with Mason's runner-up finish, helped the No. 19 Tigers secure another impressive result against nationally ranked competition.
