No. 15 Tiger Men’s Golf Tied For First After Day One of West Region Invite

Whitney, Texas – The No. 15 Trinity Men's Golf team sits tied first after 36 holes at White Bluff Resort, held at White Bluff Resort - Old Course in Whitney, Texas.

The Tigers posted a two-under-par opening round before a tougher second round of +14 to sit at +12 overall, level with Mary Hardin-Baylor at the top of the leaderboard. With the field averaging 77.49 in round one and 79.05 in round two, Trinity's ability to capitalize in the first round gave them a platform to hold onto heading into the final day.

Southwestern is in 3rd at +38. Dallas and Hardin-Simmons round out the top five at +40 and +45. Centenary and Southwestern (B) are the bottom two teams at +56 and +60.

The Rundown

Ethan Sullivan (Norfolk, Mass. / King Philip) sits at even par overall after two rounds of 72, placing third in the field and competing as an individual. Sullivan was a picture of consistency across both rounds, he ranks tied first in Par 3 scoring at one under, the joint best mark in the entire field, and his 24 pars across both rounds rank tied second, underlining just how clean his scorecard has been over 36 holes.

Carter Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada / Manning) leads the Trinity team at +2 overall after rounds of -2 and +4, sitting T4 in the field. Code was at his sharpest in round one, shooting 36 on the front nine before a clinical back nine of 34 to card a two-under 70, one of the standout rounds of the day. He ranks third in the entire field in total birdies with nine across both rounds, playing Trinity's most offensive golf and showing his ability to make an impact tomorrow.

Aiden Marlow (San Antonio, Texas / Churchill) sits at +4 overall after back-to-back rounds of +2, sitting T8 in the field. Marlow's round one was built on a stunning front nine of 33, before a tougher back nine. He backed it up with another 74 in round two, and ranked tied second in Par 4 scoring across the tournament, a testament to his reliability on the most difficult hole type on the course.

Jeffrey Forster (Santa Barbara, Calif. / San Marcos) sits at +4 overall after rounds of -1 and +5, sitting T8 in the field. Forster was at his best in round one, carding a 71 with a strong front nine of 35 to begin his opening round in style. His seven birdies across both rounds rank tied seventh in the field, and his round one performance in particular showed the kind of control that makes him a consistent contributor for the Tigers.

Andre Follmer (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis) sits at +5 overall after rounds of +1 and +4, sitting 10th in the field and competing as an individual. Follmer produced a solid opening round of 73, going out in 36 and coming home in 37, and ranks tied eighth in Par 3 scoring across the tournament.

Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) sits at +8 overall after rounds of -1 and +9, sitting 16th in the field. Sandhu's opening round of 71 was one of Trinity's finest of the day, with a composed back nine of 35 helping him navigate a demanding layout. The second round proved a sterner test, but his 21 pars across both rounds rank tied fifth in the field, underlining the solid foundations he has built over 36 holes which he will build on tomorrow.

Sam Rossi (Los Angeles, Calif. / Loyola) sits at +9 overall after rounds of +6 and +3, sitting T17 in the field. Rossi endured a difficult opening round of 78, but his response in round two was emphatic, a back nine of 34 helped him card a 75 and climb back up the leaderboard. His 21 pars across both rounds rank tied fifth in the field, showing there is plenty of control over his game with no doubt of positive contributions again tomorrow.

Trinity leads the field outright in total birdies with 32, and ranks first in Par 4 scoring across the tournament. The Tigers also rank third in Par 5 scoring at -3, and have recorded the fewest doubles in the field with just seven, demonstrating a composure under pressure that could prove decisive in the final round.

Looking Ahead

Trinity will return to action tomorrow for the final round of the White Bluff Resort Classic at White Bluff Resort - Old Course in Whitney, Texas. Tied at the top with Mary Hardin-Baylor, the Tigers will look to produce a clinical final round and claim the tournament title.
