DICKSON, Tenn. – The #19 Trinity University women's golf team finished second after the final round of play at the Southern Athletic Association Championships on Sunday, hosted at the Greystone Golf Club.
The Tigers shot a three-day total of 908 (305-303-300), with 23rd-ranked Sewanee (TN) finishing in first place. In third was #33 Oglethorpe University (GA), followed by Centre College (KY) in fourth and #45 Southwestern University (TX) in fifth. Rhodes College (TN) finished sixth, while Maryville University (TN) was seventh, and Berry College (GA) was eighth.
Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) and
Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) both earned First Team All-SAA honors by finishing in the top five individually at the tournament. Mason was second after a three-round total of 222 (74-73-75) this weekend, finishing in second place overall and carding a total of eight birdies over three days. Huddleston was fifth individually with a score of 225 (75-74-76), finishing with a total of seven birdies in the tournament – including four in today's round.
Mason Fikes (Dallas, Texas / Plano West),
Naaz Mehta (Newton, Pa. / Council Rock North), and
Natalie Lewis (El Paso, Texas / Coronado) all were named to the All-SAA Second Team, while
Sabrina Nader (Houston, Texas / The Kinkaid School) earned the nod for the SAA All-Sportsmanship Team. Mehta finished in a tie for 10th individually after shooting 232 (77-81-74) thanks to a weekend-best score of two-over 74 today. She was one-under on the front nine and carded her only birdie of the day on hole two. Nader tied for 13th with her score of 234 (81-78-75), moving up the leaderboard each day. Lewis was 18th after shooting 238 (82-78-78) and had three of her five total birdies in today's round. Fikes shot 241 (79-83-79) to tie for 21st individually and had the team's only eagle of the weekend on Sunday's second hole of the day.

The Tigers will await the NCAA Selection Show to see if they can earn an at-large bid to the postseason. The NCAA III Championships will be held May 19-22 at the Desert Willow Golf Course in Palm Desert, Calif.
