San Antonio, TEXAS – The Trinity track and field team is heading into the final weeks of the season, as they continue the hunt for nationally ranked marks. After a strong showing at SMU that saw multiple Tigers move into the national conversation, they'll take on the Trinity Last Chance Meet at home on May 10 and the Augustana Last Chance Meet on May 13.
The biggest mover from SMU was
Kyle Fix, who moved up to 21st on the men's 800-meter list with his time of 1:51.57. He joins two other Tigers currently sitting in qualifying position (top 22 for individuals, top 16 for relays):
Annabelle Lanik in the women's 100-meter (21st | 11.89) and long jump (2nd | 6.18m), and the women's 4x100-meter squad of
Nia Scott,
Shifa Daredia,
Isabella Gaylord and Lanik (13th | 46.78).
These two meets treated the Tigers quite nicely last year, giving three athletes their final nationals push. At Trinity,
Bocar Diagana found his way into nationals in the men's triple jump with his mark of 14.80m, while
Joy Areola jumped 12.08m in the women's triple jump to qualify for the meet. At Augustana, the men's 4x100-meter squad of
Legend Grigsby,
Orie Piken, Nic Ladreyt and
Price Schultea grabbed one of the last qualifying spots in 40.76. If history is any tell, this upcoming week could be very exciting for Trinity.
Looking Ahead
The NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championships will be held from May 21-23 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
