Mount Berry, GEORGIA – The Trinity track and field teams wrapped up the SAA Outdoor Championships today, both finishing in second to Centre College. With three second-places and a championship under their belt in their first year in the new conference, the Tigers have set the bar high as they prepare to compete in the SAA for years to come.

SAA Women's Distance Runner of the Year - Gianna Keena
After a second-place finish in the 10,000-meter, a win in the 5,000-meter and a sixth-place finish in the 1500-meter,
Gianna Keena (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis) was named the SAA Women's Distance Runner of the Year. She has now swept the award this year after winning the honors indoors as well. Keena's continued dominance bodes well for the Tigers, who will enjoy one more cross country season out of her in the fall.
SAA Championship Records
The women's 4x400-meter team of
Halle Hamilton(Craig, Colo. / Moffat County),
Ciara Catton (Leander, Texas / Leander),
Shifa Daredia (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) and
Annabelle Lanik (Sugar Land, Texas / St. John's) took a dominating win with a time of 3:52.96, winning by nearly five seconds and setting a new school and SAA meet record in the process.
John Michael Martin (Allen, Texas / Lovejoy) won the men's discus with a toss of 47.83m to set a new SAA meet record. Sitting in third place in program history, he's thrown over 45.00m 13 times so far in his freshman year.
Ian Zahner (Thornton, Colo. / Stargate) finished fifth in a PR throw of 42.98m, moving him into eighth in program history.
Caydon Ferrell (Beaumont, Texas / Hamshire-Fannett) took seventh with a throw of 42.40m, while
Caleb Bayer (Grandview, Texas / Grandview) threw for a big PR of 41.08m to round out a big scoring outing for the men's discus squad.

Sprints
Lanik took third in the women's 100-meter in 12.12 after setting a new school record in prelims yesterday. Daredia also picked up a point, finishing eighth in 12.64.
Orie Piken (Torrance, Calif. / West Torrance) finished eighth in the men's 100-meter in 12.81.
Lanik finished second in the women's 200-meter in 24.61, followed by Daredia in sixth with a time of 25.34.
Piken was sixth in the men's 200-meter in 26.90.
Chloe McCloskey (La Vernia, Texas / La Vernia) finished sixth in the women's 400-meter in 1:01.88, followed by
Brightly Thoning (Homer, Alaska / Homer) in eighth with a time of 1:02.62.
Jackson Gallagher (Ft. Worth, Texas / Southwest Christian) took sixth in the men's 400-meter in a PR of 49.51.
Hurdles
Isabella Gaylord (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) led the Tigers through in the women's 110-meter hurdles, taking fifth in 15.59.
Ciandra Carrico (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) was seventh in 16.92, followed by
Avery Parvin (San Antonio, Texas / Providence) in 17.87.
Kris Duggan (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) defended his conference title in the hurdles from indoor, winning the men's 110-meter hurdles in 14.88.
Kaleem Howard (Jacksboro, Texas / Jacksboro) finished right behind, taking second in a PR of 14.92, tying him for sixth in program history.
Henry Selman (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis) was fifth in 15.28.
Howard returned to win the 400-meter hurdles in a big PR of 54.67, earning his first conference title and moving him into sixth in program history. Duggan took fifth in 58.61.
Mid-Distance
Catton earned her first conference championship in the women's 800-meter, taking the win in 2:15.09. She just barely edged out Hamilton, who took second in a PR of 2:15.10 to move into second in program history.
Scarlett Berthelot (Tomball, Texas / Tomball) was fifth in 2:20.57, followed by
Annette Smith (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point) in sixth in 2:21.79.
Kyle Fix (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) took second in the men's 800-meter in 1:53.44, moving up 10 spots in the second lap to pick up his fourth All-SAA nod this year. Fix's time dipped under the old SAA meet record of 1:53.45.
Sebastian Langer (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) was fourth in 1:54.42.
Emerson Voldan took second in the women's 1500-meter in a PR of 4:41.15, earning her fifth all-SAA nod this year and keeping her in third place in program history.
Fix won the men's 1500-meter in 3:56.31, followed by
Jesus Rojas (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point) in a PR of 3:59.53, his first time under four minutes.
Alex Marquez (Leander, Texas / Leander) also set a PR of 4:02.33 to take fifth.
Distance
The Tigers, as predicted, swept the podium in the women's 5,000-meter, led by Keena's 17:44.87. Voldan was just behind in 17:48.07, while
Anne Snider (Waco, Texas / Live Oak Classical) took third in 17:54.52.
Kate Boone (Temple, Texas / Holy Trinity Catholic) also picked up a point, finishing eighth in 18:48.88.
Elijah Bliss (Garden Ridge, Texas / Davenport) just barely missed the podium in the men's 5,000-meter, finishing fourth in 15:35.60 after dropping a 4:36 last mile.
Relays
The women's 4x100-meter squad of
Nia Scott (Dickinson, Texas / Dickinson), Daredia, Gaylord and Lanik opened the afternoon's running events with a win in a time of 47.12.
The men's 4x100-meter team of
Hudson McCulley (Katy, Texas / St. Pius X), Duggan,
Ryan Forson (Dallas, Texas / Parish Episcopal School) and Piken took fourth in 42.46.
The men's 4x400-meter squad of Forson, McCulley, Langer and Gallagher took third in 4:19.75.
Jumps
Bocar Diagana (Edina, Minn. / Edina) took third in the men's triple jump in 13.63m, earning his second straight all-SAA nod of the year in his outdoor season debut.
Sophia Ortiz (Liberty Hill, Texas / Liberty Hill) also earned her second straight all-SAA nod with her third-place jump of 1.57m in the women's high jump.
Andrew Mueller (Bakersfield, Calif. / Bakersfield Christian) and
Christian Mullaney (Palisade, Colo. / Palisade) tied for fifth in the men's high jump, each clearing 1.86m.
Throws
Rachel Bell (Manvel, Texas / Lutheran South Academy) led the way for the Tigers in the women's discus, taking fourth with her toss of 37.63m.
Madeleine Seabolt (San Diego, Calif. / Mt. Carmel) was sixth in 36.18m.
Trinity Jefferson (Spring, Texas / Klein Oak) was the Tigers' lone scorer in the women's shot put, taking eighth in 11.09m.
Aaron Chang (Fullerton, Calif. / Valley Christian) led Trinity in the men's shot put with a fourth-place toss of 13.67m. Zahner was just behind in 13.65m for fifth, while Martin picked up seventh in a PR of 13.12m.

The Tigers will head to the SMU Invitational from May 1-2, looking to put up some fast late-season times.
