Tiger Track Teams Enjoy Stellar Performances at North Central

Naperville, Illinois - The Trinity University Tigers continued their successful season Friday at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College.

Senior All-American Emily Loeffler won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a best-in-the-nation time of 10 minutes, 33.16 seconds. Loeffler, who placed third in the 2008 NCAA meet, earned an automatic bid to this year's NCAA Division III Championships. The meet is slated for May 21-23 at Marietta, Ohio.

D'Ann Arthur, also a senior, picked up an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 5,000 meters, clocking in at 17:19.75 (14th in the nation), for a second-place finish. Senior Liz Eder placed second in the 10,000 meters, at 36:32.86. Eder, whose time is ranked 17th nationally, earned a provisional qualifying mark. First-year Corey Callahan was seventh in the long jump, at 16 feet, 11.50 inches (5.31 meters).

Senior All-American Todd Wildman won two men's events, the 110-meter hurdles and long jump. Wildman, the national champion in the indoor pentathlon, ran the hurdles in 14.33 seconds. He previously had an automatic qualifying time of 14.16 seconds, No. 2 in the nation. In the long jump, Wildman recorded a mark 23 feet, 4 inches (7.11 meters), the 13th best jump in the nation, and a provisional qualifying distance. Wildman placed fifth in the high jump, at 6 feet, 4.75 inches (1.95 meters). He already has an NCAA automatic jump of 6 feet, 11 inches (2.11meters), second in the nation.

In addition, Wildman is the national leader in the 400-meter hurdles (52.36 seconds), which he won at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

Senior Brennen Peters finished sixth in the 200 meters (21.87 seconds) and first-year Matt Sokolic was 18th in the 400 meters (51.69 seconds).

The Tigers continued their Illinois trip Saturday at the University of Chicago Penultimate meet.  

Trinity University Tigers senior Todd Wildman of Dallas (Jesuit) leads the NCAA Division III in the men's 400-meter hurdles.

Wildman registered a time of 52.36 seconds two weeks ago at the  Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Sewanee, Tenn.

He has earned NCAA automatic qualifying marks in the 400 hurdles, 110-meter hurdles (14.16 seconds, No. 2 in the nation) and the high jump (6 feet, 11 inches, No. 2 nationally).

Wildman and his teammates will compete Friday and Saturday at the University of Chicago Penultimate meet.

The NCAA Championships are slated for May 21-23 at Marietta, Ohio.
