Tiger Track & Field Teams Place 16 on USTFCCCA All-Region Teams

NEW ORLEANS – The Trinity men's and women's track & field teams featured 16 All-Region performers, as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

All-Region student-athletes were determined by the Descending Order Lists on Athletic.net for each region. The top eight individuals and top eight relay teams all earned the distinction. The Tigers had six men and 10 women qualify for the team across various events. Five of the women qualified in more than one event.

Sophomore Annabelle Lanik (Sugar Land, Texas / St. John's) picked up All-Region honors in five separate events. She qualified in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, as well as in the long jump. Lanik was also a part of both the 4x100-meter relay team and the 4x400-meter relay team that earned All-Region accolades. First-year Isabella Gaylord (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) and sophomore Shifa Daredia (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) also qualified as part of both relay teams. Sophomore Halle Hamilton (Craig, Colo. / Moffat County) and first-year Ciara Catton (Leander, Texas / Leander) were both part of the 4x400 relay team and also qualified in the 800-meter run. Sophomore Nia Scott (Dickinson, Texas / Dickinson) rounds out the Tiger runners in the 4x100 relay. Sophomore Addison Doss (Sugar Land, Texas / Logos Preparatory Academy) received the honors in the pole vault, while fellow sophomore Sophia Ortiz (Liberty Hill, Texas / Liberty Hill) qualified in the high jump. Sophomore distance runners Anne Snider (Waco, Texas / Live Oak Classical) and Emerson Voldan (Arlington, Texas / Mansfield Summit) also achieved All-Region honors in the 5,000-meter run and the 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively.

For the men, senior Bocar Diagana (Edina, Minn. / Edina) was All-Region in the triple jump, with freshmen John Michael Martin (Allen, Texas / Lovejoy) and Christian Mullaney (Palisade, Colo. / Palisade) joining him as field event honorees. Martin secured his spot in the discus and Mullaney was a high jump qualifier. On the track, senior Kris Duggan (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) was joined on the All-Region teams by sophomores Kyle Fix (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) and Kaleem Howard (Jacksboro, Texas / Jacksboro). Duggan made the team with his performance in the 110-meter hurdles, Fix was All-Region in the 800-meter run, and Howard was in the top eight regionally in the 400-meter hurdles.

Lanik and Diagana also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships meet that runs May 21-23. The Tiger 4x100-meter relay squad of Lanik, Daredia, Scott, and Brightly Thoning (Homer, Alaska / Homer) also qualified for nationals.
