Conroe, Texas - The Trinity University Tigers
men's swimming and diving team had a close dual meet late Saturday
with Centenary College.
Centenary, a member of the NCAA Division I, beat the Division III
Tigers by just 11 points, 159-148.
Trinity's men captured 11 individual events at Woodforest
Natatorium
Andrew Battles won the 500 freestyle (4:48.11) and the 1,000
freestyle (10:14.27). Alex Miranda was the winner of the 400
individual medley (4:14.99) and the 200 butterfly (1:57.75). Graham
Mullings finished in first place in the 200 freestyle (1:47.55) and
the 100 freestyle (48.20). Audel Mehrinfar took both breaststroke
events, the 100 (1:02.04) and 200 (2:16.39).
CJ Robison was the winner of the 50 freestyle race (23.30).
Two Tiger men won both diving boards. Andrew Snead emerged as
the 1-meter winner (272.10), and Matt Hawley won the 3-meter board
(193.80).
Centenary beat Trinity's women 209-104.
Diver Hayley Emerick had her usual outstanding performances on
the boards. Emerick won the 1-meter (327.00) and 3-meter (338.55)
events.
Trinity will compete Friday, Jan. 29, and Saturday, Jan. 30, at
the UIW Invitational. The nearby University of the Incarnate Word
is the host team, at Barshop Natatorium. The Tiger Diving
Invitational is slated for Feb. 6-7 at Trinity's Hixon Natatorium.
