SAN ANTONIO - The Trinity University Men's Swimming and Diving Team claimed first place at the Tiger Invite event that spanned over three days. TU was in control from the first day, the Tigers led after day one and never looked back. Trinity finished with a team score of 1139 with the University of Texas Permian Basin finishing second with a team score of 984.
Daniel Sarman (Austin, Texas / Vandergrift), Nolan Anthony (Missouri City, Texas / Missouri City), Nathaniel Early (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and Michael Kohl (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) raced to a first place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:03.73. Caleb Manifold (Helotes, Texas / Homeschool), Shamzi Alkaff (Ft. Collins, Colo. / Fossil Ridge), Grayden Nelson (San Antonio, Texas / San Antonio Christian) and Omar Shahatit (Austin, Texas / Westlake) took third place in the same event with a time of 3:10.61.
Wesley Wasserburger (Austin, Texas / James Bowie) placed third in the 100 yard IM after touching the wall with a time of 54.74. Matteo Lanzara (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) and Sarman took first and second place in the 200 yard backstroke with times of 1:50.61 and 1:51.51.
Kohl and Early raced to first and second place in the 100 yard freestyle with times of 44.90 and 45.43. Kendal Southwell (Rio Rancho, N.M. / Calvert Online Academy) won the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:06.82. Spencer Steward (Kearney, Mo. / Kearney) took second, finishing right behind Southwell with a time of 2:08.07 .
Shahatit won the 200 yard butterfly by touching the wall with a time of 1:53.99. John Fontenot (Austin, Texas / St. Andrew's) placed third in the same event with a time of 1:57.92.
