Tigers senior Todd Wildman of Dallas (Jesuit) placed seventh (of 14
runners) Saturday in the men's 55-meter hurdles at the Texas Tech
Invitational indoor track and field meet.
Wildman ran the event in 7.67 seconds, earning an NCAA Division
III provisional qualifying time. The mark is the third best time in
the nation. Wildman won the 2009 NCAA indoor pentathlon
championship, including the 55-meter hurdles (7.51 seconds). On
Friday, Wildman placed 13th in the long jump (6.64 meters,
21-9.50).
Trinity's other competitors had outstanding showings at the
Texas Tech event, a meet dominated by Division I athletes.
Senior Chass Armstrong of Boerne, Texas (Boerne),
finished the men's mile in 4:21.44, placing 10th in a field of 44
runners. Bryant Wright, a senior from Tulsa, Okla.
(Holland Hall), was close behind, in 11th place, with a time of
4:22.55.
Nicole Fisk, a senior from San Pedro, Calif.
(Chadwick), placed 30th of 42 entrants in the women's 400 meters,
clocking in at 1:01.70.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team finished at No. 20, with a time
of 3:31.97. Team members were Wildman; Armstrong; Hayes; and
first-year Riley Walker of Austin, Texas (Bowie). Senior Beth Tweedy of Austin (Westwood) was 15th in the
women's triple jump (10.40 meters, 34-1.50). While sophomore Corey Callahan ran the 800m in 2:39.09 for a 32nd
place finish.
Sophomore Spencer Hayes of Clear Lake, Texas (Clear Lake), just
missed the men's 55-meter finals, clocking in at 6.58 seconds. The
finals qualifying time was 6.56 seconds. Walker ran the 55-meter
hurdles prelims in 8.17 seconds.
The Tigers will compete Feb. 5 at the indoor Illinois Wesleyan
Keck Invitational/Pentathlon at Bloomington, Ill.
