San Antonio - Eight members of the Trinity Tigers men's tennis team advanced to Saturday's "A" singles round of 16 at the USTA/ITA Division III Men's Tennis Southwest Region Championships.

Delavan Tennis Stadium is serving as tournament headquarters.
 
Included in the group were defending champion Erick DelaFuente, and last year's finalist Max Frey. Also advancing were Arvind Fernando, Cory Kowal, Ben Carroll, Greg Haugen, Don Murray, and Bobby Cocanougher.
 
The round of 16 begins at 8 a.m., and the quarterfinals are slated for 11 a.m. The same time schedule will be followed Sunday for the semifinals and final.
 
In "A" doubles, four Tiger teams moved on to the quarterfinals: NCAA finalists Cocanougher and Kowal, Carroll and Murray, Brendan Gibbons and Greg Haugen, and DelaFuente and Frey. The quarters will be played at 3 p.m., and the semis at 4:30 p.m. The championship match is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.

The main-draw winners in singles and doubles qualify for the National Small College Championships Oct. 13-17 at Mobile, Ala.
