Tampa, Fla. - Division II University of Tampa
beat the Trinity Tiger men's and women's swim teams in dual meets
late Saturday.
Tampa was a 139-113 winner over the Trinity men, and the women
won 141-100. Last Friday, both Tigers teams were victorious against
Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., as the Trinity men won
120-84, and the women 115-89.
Alex Miranda and Andrew Battles paced
the Tiger men against Tampa, with two victories each. Miranda
captured the 200-yard butterfly (1:59.68) and the 400 individual
medley (4:21.55). Battles was the winner in the 500 freestyle
(4:59.86) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:21.78).
Sean
Fronczak took the 200 breaststroke (2:02.27). Trinity also won
the 400 freestyle relay (3:23.40). Relay team members were Battles,
Zach
Dielmann, Aaron Shaver, and
Matthew Wey.
Melanie
Gustafson led the way for the Tiger women by winning two
events: the 200 butterfly (2:12.57) and the 500 freestyle
(5:22.24). Mary
Price was the 100 butterfly champion (1:04.22), and Lisa Tucci won the 400
individual medley (4:54.39).
Trinity swept the 400 freestyle relay, with a winning time of
3:50.38. Gustafson, Rachel Berude, Ana Price, and Meghan Varner
composed the first-place Tiger team.
The Tigers will host the University of New Orleans in a dual
meet Friday, Oct. 22, in Hixon Natatorium.
