Austin, Texas - The Trinity Tigers men's and
women's teams once again were high finishers at the American
Swimming Association Fourth Annual Open Water Collegiate National
Championships.
The 5k event - open to all NCAA divisions - was held
Oct. 2 at Lake Travis, with a starting and finishing point at
Mansfield Dam Park.
Trinity's men won the national championship, and the Tiger women
placed third, behind Texas A&M and Rice.
Individually, Trinity's Alex Miranda won the men's race
(1:06:12.93), and was closely followed by Arthur Daigh (1:06:15.60)
and Sean Fronczak (1:06:48.64) of Trinity.
Melanie Gustafson was the Tiger women's top finisher (1:09:24.27),
only six minutes behind the winner from Texas A&M.
Tiger swimmers will resume competition Sunday at the Coral Reef 2
and 5-Mile Open Water Race at St. Croix, United States Virgin
Islands.
