San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers swimming and
diving teams defeated the University of New Orleans in dual meets
late Friday in Hixon Natatorium.
Trinity's men won nine events, and the Tiger women captured 12.
Andrew Battles won the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:48.43), the 500
freestyle (4:53.90), and 1,000 freestyle (10:04.03). Andrew Daigh
was the winner in the 200 individual medley (2:02.74), and Sean
Fronczak took the 100 backstroke (56.01). Matthew Wey captured the
100 breaststroke event (1:03.91). Trinity also won the 200 medley
relay (Fronczak, Wey, Zach Dielmann, Michael Patton), 1:41.45.
Andrew Snead won the 1-meter diving (156.95), and Richard Hawley
took the 3-meter board (173.15).
Melanie Gustafson was the women's 200 freestyle champion (2:03.82),
and also won the 1,000 freestyle (11:09.53). Jennifer Ince finished
first in the 50 freestyle (26.49), and the 100 backstroke
(1:03.29). Morgan Briggs brought home the title in the 200
individual medley (2:19.19, and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.47). Ana
Price took top honors in the 100 freestyle (55.77), and Mary Price
won the 100 butterfly (1:03.93).
Trinity captured the 200 medley relay (Briggs, Kristen Zinser,
Megan O'Rell, Leslie Butts), clocking in at 1:56.90. The Tigers
also won the 200 freestyle relay (Ince, Butts, A. Price, Meghan
Varner), with a time of 1:44.69.
NCAA divinng national champion Hayley Emerick was the victor in
1-meter diving (210.80). Ruth Hahn won the 3-meter board (231.55),
and Emerick was runner-up (226.70).
