Louisville, Ky. - Trinity University Tigers
sophomore Kevin Martin of Corpus Christi, Texas (Ray), placed
second Friday afternoon in the men's 3-meter diving at the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Swimming and
Diving Championships.
Martin registered a score of 384.20 at the University of
Louisville's Ralph Wright Natatorium. Hunter Hayes of Centre won
for the second year in a row, posting a score of 468.05.
On Wednesday, Martin captured the 1-meter board, with an NCAA
Division III consideration score of 448.35.
Junior Andrew Snead of Portland, Texas (Gregory-Portland), was
sixth in the 3-meter event (317.35). Matt Hawley, a junior from
Kingwood, Texas (Kingwood), placed eighth (297.70).
Martin and Snead had previously earned NCAA consideration
scores, along with six Tiger female divers.
Junior Hayley Emerick of Portland (Gregory-Portland), won the
women's 3-meter diving Thursday for the third consecutive year.
Emerick, who scored 479.45, became the only diver in SCAC history
to win three straight 3-meter diving championships. The two-time
1-meter champion will defend her title Saturday, the final day of
swimming and diving competition.
Day 3 of the meet continues with swimming finals today at 6:30
p.m. Eastern Time.
