Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity University Tigers
men's track and field team has received a No. 6 national indoor
Division III ranking by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association.
Trinity, led by second-year head coach David Svoboda, who also
coaches the Tiger women's team, held the No. 6 ranking the
previous week. The Tigers amassed 75 rankings points, and are just
3.98 points behind fifth-place Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Tiger senior Todd Wildman of Dallas (Jesuit), the defending
men's national indoor pentathlon champion, received an NCAA
automatic qualifying score in the event. Wildman also has an NCAA
automatic qualifying time in the 55-meter hurdles (7.50 seconds),
the high jump (2.04m), and the long jump (6.96m). He
currently sits at 1st, 9th, and 13th in those events
respectively.
The men's distance medley team of Wildman; senior Chass
Armstrong of Boerne, Texas (Boerne); junior Zach Brush of Edmond,
Okla. (Edmond North); and senior Bryant Wright of Tulsa, Okla.
(Holland Hall); has earned an NCAA provisional qualifying time
(9:59.66) and is ranked 5th in the country.
Sophomore Spencer Hayes of Clear Lake, Texas (Clear Lake),
registered an NCAA provisional mark in the 55-meter dash (6.44
seconds) and currently sits at 12th in the country.
Junior Caitlin Masse of Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch), ran an NCAA
provisional time in the women's 5,000 meters (17:23.48) and
is ranked 10th in the nation.
The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships begin
March 12 at Greencastle, Ind., hosted by fellow SCAC school Depauw
University.
The Tiger teams will compete in two meets over the weekend. The
NYU (New York University) Fast Track is slated for Friday in New
York. Trinity will also be a competing team Saturday at the UIW
(University of the Incarnate Word) Invitational in San Antonio.
