Box Score Sophomore Justin Campbell of Victoria, Texas (Memorial),
captured the men's discus with a throw of 48.61 meters (159 feet,
5.78 inches), at the meet held on the campus of the University of
the Incarnate Word. Campbell's throw would meet the NCAA
Division III provisional qualifying standards, but the outdoor
season does not officially begin until next weekend. His throw was
seven meters (22 feet, 11.59 inches) farther than last year's
opening meet. Campbell earned All-America honors in the discus at
the 2009 NCAA Championships, with a third-place finish, and a throw
of 50.18 meters (164 feet, 7 inches).
Sophomore Robert Edmonds of San Antonio, Texas (Health
Careers) had an amazing performance in the men's 5,000m run, with a
stellar time of 15:31. This marks the fourth fastest time ever run
in Trinity history. The school record is currently held by Cliff
Ruehl, 15:21.26, set in 2000.
On the women's side Junior Caitlin Masse of Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch), won the
women's 1,500 meters, with a personal best time of
4:53.42. She earlier received an NCAA provisional indoor time in
the 5,000 meters (17:23.48), at the Boston University Valentine
Invitational, with a seventh-place finish.
Freshman Emily Shiraki of Kailua, Hawaii (Iolani School) jumped
an impressive 9'6" at her first collegiate track meet, which puts
her fourth all-time performer in Trinity history. Julie Lowstetter
set the current school record of 11'6" in 2005.

The Tigers will host the Trinity Open, their first home
meet of the season, at 11 a.m. Saturday at E.M. Stevens Stadium.
