The Men and Women Take Fourth at the SCAC Track and Field Championships

Box Score

Conway, AR - The Tiger men's and women's track and field teams both finished fourth at the 2010 SCAC Championships.

All-American Zach Brush highlights day two with new SCAC record and personal best.  Brush successfully completed a tough double on the second day of competition.  First up for Brush was the 1500m run, in which he not only finished second behind teammate Chass Armstrong, but also notched a new personal best of 3:55.54. A short time later he ran the 800m, in which he was seeded first. He not only finished first (1:53.70), but also broke his own SCAC record, which he set last year.

Senior All-American Chass Armstrong became the first SCAC male to win the 1500m four times in a row with a time of 3:54.71. He also broke his own SCAC record, a record which he's now broken three times. Senior All-American Bryant Wright helped with the sweep in the second day of distance events by taking first in the 5000m run (15:20.02). Also earning a SCAC title was sophomore All-American Justin Campbell, who hit another provisional mark in the discus with a throw of 47.59m.

Other notable performers were freshman Riley Walker and senior All-American Brennen Peters who went third and fourth respectively in the 110m hurdles. Also, Nigel Robinson finished fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.42.

On the women's side, the 4x100m relay (Tolley St. Clair, Corey Callahan, Nicole Fisk, and Kimberly Simmons) came in second behind Rhodes with a time of 50.14. Senior Beth Tweedy came in second in the triple jump (10.95m) and tied for third in the high jump with teammate Elana Edwards, both with a jump of 5-01.75 (5.50m). Junior Sonia Brady placed fourth in the javelin and fifth in the discus. Also, sophomore Jasmine Johnson finished 4th in the 100m hurdle finals in a time of 15.72 seconds.

Both the men's and women's teams finished a disappointing fourth place to end the SCAC championships. The Tigers will host a last chance meet on Saturday May 8th in hopes of achieving more qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships on May 27th.
