Trinity's Brush Receives Bid to NCAA Track and Field Championships

San Antonio – Trinity University Tigers junior Zach Brush has received a bid to compete in the 800 meters event of the NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Brush, from Edmond, Okla. (Edmond North), will run the in the preliminaries Friday at Baldwin-Walllace College in Berea, Ohio. The finals are scheduled for Saturday.

Brush's 800 meters time of 1:51.01 is the fifth best in the nation and a new school record, breaking his own set last year. He attained the time May 8th, at the Trinity Almost Last Chance Meet, on his home track at E.M. Stevens Stadium. He also broke his Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference record by winning the SCAC title in the 800 (1:53.70) at Conway, Ark.

Brush is a two-time All-American. He placed third in the 800m during the 2008 outdoor NCAA meet as well as helping to lead Trinity's distance medley relay at the 2010 indoor championships to a second place finish.

Trinity's men's and women's track and field teams are led by second-year head coach David Svoboda.
