Box Score San Antonio - Five Trinity University Tigers men's soccer players have been elected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III All-Far West Region Team.
Four of the players were named to the All-Far West Region First Team, including three seniors: defender CH Farmer (Dallas/Lake Highlands), midfielder Zach Garcia (Dallas/Lake Highlands), and forward Josh Adams (Houston/Clear Brook). Junior defender Denny Mask (Tulsa, Okla./Holland Hall) joined his teammates on the First Team. An All-Far West Region Second Team honoree was junior defender Kyle Porter (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado).
Adams led the Tigers offensive threat, scoring 15 goals (six game-winners), and dishing out three assists, for 33 points. Trinity was ranked eighth in the nation in scoring offense, with 57 goals, an average of 3.17 per game. Garcia, a 2010 NSCAA and D3soccer.com All-American, produced six goals - with five coming as game-winners - and five assists for 17 points.
Trinity's defenders allowed 13 goals in 18 games, an average of .71 per match-up. All contributed to the Tigers offense, as well. Porter scored three goals (one game-winner), and had two assists for eight points. Farmer scored one goal and two assists for four points, and Mask added a goal, for two points.
The five outstanding Tigers played major roles in Trinity's undefeated 14-0-2 regular season campaign. The Tigers completed the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season with a 9-0-0 record, but were upset by Centre in the SCAC Tournament semifinals.
Trinity, led by 21st-year head Coach Paul McGinlay, advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the 15th time, and 10th in a row. The University of Texas-Tyler beat Trinity in an NCAA second-round home game, and the Tigers finished the year with a 14-2-2 record.
Trinity was ranked 15th in the nation by D3soccer.com, and 17th by the NSCAA.
