Shenandoah, Texas - Trinity University Tigers junior Kevin Martin (Corpus Christi, Texas/Ray) swept the men's diving competition by winning the 3-meter board Friday at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.
Martin, who was runner-up in 2009, registered a score of 534.35 at the Conroe ISD's Woodforest Natatorium - the second-highest total in SCAC Championships history.
Last Wednesday, Martin captured the 1-meter event, for the second straight year, by a SCAC meet record 512.25.
Senior Andrew Snead (Portland, Texas/Gregory-Portland) placed second in Friday's 3-meter event (429.10). Richard Hawley (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood), a senior, finished fourth (381.25).
The women's 3-meter diving is slated for Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The defending SCAC and NCAA Division III champion is senior Hayley Emerick (Portland, Texas/Gregory Portland). On Thursday, sophomore Ruth Hahn (Knoxville, Tenn./Bearden) won the 1-meter board, and Emerick was runner-up.
Swimming continues later tonight with the finals at 6:30. Saturday's swimming prelims begin at 10:30 a.m., and the final events of the meet start at 6:30 p.m.
