Box Score Stephenville, Texas - The Trinity Tigers track and field teams had superb showings Thursday at the Tarleton State Invitational.
Four of the Tiger women excelled in their events, which often included NCAA Division I and Division II student-athletes.
First-year Rosemary Steup finished second in the 5,000 meters, clocking in at 17:59.01. Steup recorded a personal-best time, and is now fifth on the all-time Trinity list in the event.
Maddie Murphy also competed in the 5,000 meters, and placed 10th (18:40. 10). Murphy is now eighth all-time at Trinity.
Sophomore Elana Edwards was the runner-up in the women's high jump (5 feet, 2 inches). Senior Kathryn Coster placed fifth in the discus, with a personal-best throw of 105 feet, 5 inches.
Senior Zach Brush placed third in the 800 meters, clocking in at 1:55.69. Sophomore Francisco Escobedo finished eighth in the 1,500 meters.His personal-best time of 4:05.90 places him at No. 8 in the Tiger record books.
First-year athletes Adrian Wackett and George Warren finished second and third, respectively, in the men's long jump. Wackett recorded a jump of 20 feet, 1.3 inches; and Warren jumped 19 feet, 11.76 inches.
Senior Joseph Marina had his season-best throw of 137 feet, 10.33 inches in the javelin, placing 10th in his flight.
