Emerick Places Second in NCAA 1-Meter Diving; Hahn Finishes 12th

Knoxville, Tenn. - Trinity University Tigers senior Hayley Emerick (Portland, Texas/Gregory Portland) placed second Friday in 1-meter diving at the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
 
Emerick scored 458.50 points in the finals held at the University of Tennessee's Allan Jones Aquatic Center. She was also runner-up in Wednesday's 3-meter competition. The winner of both events was Danica Roskos of The College of New Jersey, who registered 515.90 on the 1-meter board.
 
Tiger sophomore Ruth Hahn, diving in her hometown, placed 12th in the 1-meter championships, scoring 389.65.. She recorded a score of 377.65 in the prelims. Hahn, a graduate of Bearden High School, finished third behind Emerick on the 3-meter board.
 
Emerick, who scored 403.75 in Friday's 1-meter preliminaries, was the defending 3-meter national champion. It marked the third year in a row Emerick earned All-America status on both boards. Emerick was an Honorable Mention All-American her first year of NCAA diving, in 2008.
 
Hahn, in her first NCAA competition, became an All-American on the 3-meter board, and was an Honorable Mention All-American on the 1-meter.
 
Last month, Hahn was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Diver of the Meet, at the SCAC Championships held at Shenandoah, Texas. She won the 1-meter diving with a score of 475.80, while Emerick placed second. Emerick won the SCAC 3-meter board,edging her teammate by .05 points.
 
Trinity's diving coach is Stan Randall, who was selected as last year's NCAA Women's Diving Coach of the Meet.
