Box Score Later this week the Trinity track and field team will travel to Rhodes College to compete at the SCAC Track and Field Championships. Competition will begin Friday and conclude Saturday afternoon.
Top female performers to keep an eye on are distance runners Rosemary Steup and All-American Caitlin Masse in the 5,000m. They are currently ranked second and third on the SCAC performance list behind Rhodes' Taylor Stephens. Masse is also ranked second in the 10,000m with a time of 37:33.44. First year Jessie Dean will be looking to put some points on the board in the 3,000m Steeplechase. Her best time of 11:59 puts her second to Rhodes' Kelsey Dudziak.
In the field events sophomore Elana Edwards will be looking to get her first SCAC title in the high jump this year. Last year Edwards tied for third in the event with a jump of 5' 1 ¾". She holds the top spot in the event along with sophomore Emily Shiraki in the women's pole vault. Shiraki's best mark this year is 10'4". Last year Shiraki won the event with a jump of 10'7". Senior Kathyrn Coster currently holds the second spot in the SCAC behind Centres' Emily Niehaus in the shot put, while first year Kelsey Oelze sits at third in the women's javelin.
Top male performers for Trinity include junior Spencer Hayes in the men's 100m. His time of 11.14 is the third best time in the SCAC behind two Rhodes runners. Hayes is also third in men's 200m dash. Senior Guss Hoff sits at third in the men's 400m with a time of 50.92. All-American Zach Brush will be looking to take home his fourth consecutive title in the men's 800m. Last year Brush not only won the event, but he set a SCAC record with a time of 1:53.70. He currently holds the top spot in the SCAC with a time of 1:53.24. In the men's 5000m sophomore Sal Perdomo has the third best time of 15:03.95. Sophomore Riley Walker currently holds the top spot in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 15.57, while sophomore James Fletcher sits at third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.42. Trinity's 4x100m relays team holds the third best spot in the SCAC behind DePauw and Millsaps with a time of 43.63 while their 4x4 team sits at second behind Rhodes with a time of 3:24.14.
On the field event side, first year George Warren holds the best mark in the high jump with a season best of 6'6" while teammate Ryan Gill is third with a jump of 6'2.75". The men's pole vault has a great showing for Trinity with sophomore Kevin Martin and first year Sean Scott tied for first, with DePauws' Kyle Mackey, at a height of 13'1.5". Sophomore Justin Kah is currently ranked second, behind Rhodes' Andrew Maryot, in the men's shot put with a season best throw of 13.65m. First year Bradley Drenon looks to earn his first All-SCAC award in the discus throw. He has the second best mark in the event with a throw of 41.16m.
