Box Score San Marcos, Texas - Trinity University Tigers
first-year student-athlete Kelsey Oelze (Phoenix/Sunnyslope) won
the women's javelin competition Saturday at the Bobcat Invitational
track and field meet at Texas State University.
Oelze, competing in a meet which included a number of NCAA Division
I and II teams, registered a winning mark of 37.79 meters (124
feet).
The Tigers, members of Division III, produced an outstanding
performance in the men's high jump from first-year George Warren
(Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown). Warren, who won the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference title earlier this month, placed
second with a jump of 1.91 meters (6 feet, 3.25 inches). Sophomore
Elana Edwards (Austin, Texas/Bowie) tied for eighth place in the
women's high jump, at 1.62 meters (5 feet, 3.75 inches).
Sophomore Emily Shiraki (Kailua, Hawaii/Iolani School) finished
fifth in the women's pole vault event, at 3.20 meters (10 feet, 6
inches). First-year men's pole vaulter Joey Kozak (The Woodlands,
Texas/Oak Ridge) placed seventh with a vault of 3.80 meters (12
feet, 5.50 inches).
Junior Ryan Gill (Houston/The Kincaid School) was eighth in the
men's long jump, at 5.53 meters (18 feet, 1.75 inches).
The Tigers will next compete May 12 at the UIW Last Chance Meet, at
the University of the Incarnate Word, in San Antonio.
