Box Score San Antonio, TX – The Tigers hosted their last home meet of the season on Friday, highlighted by wins in both the men's and women's 3000m steeplechase, the men's 800m, and the women's javelin throw.
Sophomore Sal Perdomo took home the win in his first steeplechase of the season, followed by teammate Adam Cribb, who completed a Tiger sweep of the top two positions. Perdomo's time of 10:16 was only ten seconds off of his personal best, set in 2010, and puts him in 6th place in the SCAC.
Senior Zach Brush's close victory in the men's 800m marked a season best and a SCAC leading time, and was only half a second off of the Division 3 provisional mark. Battling the University of the Incarnate Word's Sebastien Jaraba-Heffner down the home stretch, Brush took home the win by three tenths of a second.
The men's pole vault had Kevin Martin, Scott Sean and Joey Kozak taking the second, third, and fourth place spots.
On the women's side, First Year Jessie Dean notched her first collegiate win in her second steeplechase of the year, finishing in a time of 12:08.38. Fellow first years Vanessa Moreno and Jackie Newall finished 2nd and 4th in times of 12:42 and 13:03, respectively.
In a heated showdown, First Year Kelsey Oelze took the win in the women's javelin over Texas Lutheran's Basey Brooke by a single inch, with a throw of 34.32m, or 112 feet, 7 inches. This throw places Oelze at 4th place in the conference.
Other noticeable performances include Senior Gus Hoff in the men's javelin placing third with a throw of 43.98m. Shot putters Justin Kah and Bradley Drenon took second and third with throws of 13.65m and 12.15m. Rounding out the great performances was Elana Edward had a third place finish in the women's high jump (1.62m).

The Tigers take a break this week and then head to Rhodes College on April 22 to kick off the SCAC Championships.
