Box Score San Antonio – Trinity's men's
soccer team will host three other teams in the First and Second
Round of the NCAA Playoffs on Saturday and Sunday.
Trinity won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Southwestern University last
weekend, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA
Playoffs.
The Tigers will open the postseason with a rematch against
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday at 7:30
p.m. Earlier this season, Trinity won 2-0 at Claremont
to improve to ???. Mississippi College and
Whitworth University will face off before the Tigers play, at 5:00
p.m. on Saturday. The winners of both games will meet on
Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
Tickets for the weekend's events will be $6.00 for
adults/general admission, $3.00 for students and senior citizens,
and $2.00 for children (ages 3-12). Gates will open 90
minutes before the first game begins, and all games will be played
on Trinity's campus.
Trinity also played Mississippi College at home earlier this
year, winning a 4-0 decision in the second game of the
season. Whitworth is the only team Trinity has seen in the
NCAA Playoffs, losing a 1-2 overtime game in the 2005
Quarterfinals.
The Tigers are 31-14 (.689) overall in 15 previous appearances
in the postseason, and have made the NCAA Tournament for 11
consecutive seasons. Trinity lost to the University of
Texas-Tyler in the Second Round of the playoffs last year.
The Tigers won the 2003 NCAA Division III Championship, and
finished as the runner-up in 2007.
In his 22nd season with the Tigers, Head Coach Paul McGinlay is
the winningest active coach among all NCAA Divisions. He has
led Trinity to the NCAA Quarterfinals on seven occasions in his
career.
