Buckreis and Junior Sal Perdomo
highlighted the Tigers' trip to Rhodes College by setting new
school records in their respective events.
Buckreis, for the second time this season, has broken his own
school record in the hammer throw. His throw of 43.20 meters bested
his old personal best, set two weeks ago at the Incarnate Word
Invitational, by 1.52 meters. Perdomo, in his first 3,000m
steeplechase of the season, broke a four year old school record by
an impressive four seconds. His time of 9:31.46 marks a 15 second
personal best for the junior.
On the women's side, Kesley Oelze placed third in the javelin
throw (36.69 meters). She also bested her previous all-time best
mark in the shot put with a toss of 10.69 meters. This moves her to
fifth all-time in the event for Trinity.
The women's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams continued to lower their
times in both events, with marks of 51.19 for the 4x100m and
4:11.08 for the 4x400m relay.
Trinity also dominated the women's steeplechase with sophomores Jessie Dean and
Jackie
Newell taking second and third place respectively.
The Tigers' will take this coming weekend off before going back
into action at their second home meet of the season, the Tiger
Relays. The meet will take place Friday, March 30th.
