Austin, Texas - Sophomore Jessie Dean set a new personal record in the 3000 meter steeplechase, competing in the Texas Relays on Thursday night.

Dean clocked in at 11:41.12 in the event, which crushes her own previous record by 11 seconds, and is the third-fastest time in Trinity history.  She was seventh in the event, with all of her competitors hailing from non-Division III schools.

The Texas Relays are hosted by the University of Texas, and athletes must qualify to participate in the prestigious meet.  This season, Dean was the only Tiger runner to earn a spot in the competition. 

Trinity will host its own event this weekend, and the Trinity Relays will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
