Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity men's and women's
track & field teams saw several individuals break personal
records at the Tiger Relays on Friday.
A total of eight student-athletes distinguished themselves from
the rest of the Trinity team by not only setting new personal
bests, but earning spots in the top 10 in school history for their
respective events.
Mary Kate Stewart had a career-best meet on Friday, highlighted
by her 100m dash time of 12.99. That time is the fifth-best
in school history. She also earned the ninth-best finish in
Trinity history with a 27.41 in the 200m dash, and ran
the opening leg of Trinity's 4x100m relay team that also
finished ninth in school history, racing to a time of 50.46.
Joining Stewart on the relay team were Salome Wilfred, Corey
Callahan, and Sara Breshears. Wilfred also set a new personal
record with a time of 61.88 in the 400m dash, which earns
her a spot in the top 10 all-time.
In the 1500m, Sal Perdomo and Vanessa Moreno both had excellent
races. Perdomo finished in 4:02.61 to earn a second-place
finish in today's race. Moreno raced to the finish in 4:52.27
to earn third place. Both Tigers now stand fifth in school
history in the event.
A very competitive 800m run saw Ian Plantz finish eighth overall
in 1:56.99, but it ranks him fifth in Trinity history in the
event.
After setting a new personal best in the 3000m steeplechase at
the Texas Relays last night, Jessie Dean came right back out
tonight and set another individual record with her fourth-place
finish in the 400m hurdles. Dean ran in 65.58 on Friday,
which ranks her third in school history.
Trinity will next compete at the David Noble Relays in San
Angelo, Texas, from April 3-5. The Tigers return home for the
Trinity Alumni Classic on Saturday, April 14.
