Box Score San Angelo, Texas - The Tigers traveled to San Angelo to compete at the David Noble Relays. Highlighting the meet was senior Robbie Buckreis who broke his own school record in the hammer throw for the third time this season.
Buckreis bested his school record of 141' 09", set at the the Rhodes Invite, by throwing an impressive nine feet farther (150' 10"). This mark moves him up to first on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference leaderboard. Sophomore Sal Perdomo was the first division III finisher in the men's 5,000 meter race. His time of 15:20.52 was just seven seconds shy of his season best.
A standout on the women's team was sophomore distance runner Maddie Murphy, who won the 5,000 meter race in a new personal best time of 18:06.30. The time is a 12-second improvement from her last time out and is currently leading the conference.
Fellow sophomore Vanessa Moreno finished just seconds behind Murphy with a time of 18:08.34. The 1600m relay team (Wilfred, Callahan, Dean, Hanson) took advantage of the stiff competition by shattering three seconds of their season best time of 4:11.08. They ran 4:08.03 which leaves them third in the conference thus far.
The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 14th, as they host the Trinity Alumni Classic. The home meet will be the last regular season competition before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference meet on April 27th in Birmingham, AL.
