Box Score San Antonio, Texas/Naperville, Illinois -
Trinity had several student-athletes competing at a pair of meets
on Thursday night, and the Tigers posted several personal
records.
A handful of track and field athletes competed at the Incarnate
Word Last Chance meet. They battled off the rain for the majority
of the meet, but senior Corey Callahan
didn't seem to be affected by the unfavorable weather conditions.
In the two events she competed in Callahan had a personal best in
both. Her long jump mark of 5.54 meters puts her at the top of the
record books. She also managed to best her time in the 100 meter
hurdles (15.55), which puts her second all-time, unfortunately both
events were wind-aided and therefore aren't legal marks for
national consideration. Senior Ryan Gill won the
men's pole vault with a new personal best jump of 3.20 meters and
Junior Elana
Edwards won the high jump with a season best mark of 1.60m.
A distance trio of sophomores went to the Dr. Keeler Invite, hosted
by North Central College (Naperville). In the 5,000 meter run Vanessa
Moreno had a 21 second improvement on her personal best,
running an impressive 17:43.53. The time moves her up to fourth
all-time at Trinity. Rosemary Steup
and Maddie
Murphy competed in the 10,000 meter for the third time this
season. They saved their best performance for last as both girls
knocked about two minutes off of their previous best time in the
event. Steup now sits at third all-time in the record books with
her time of 36:42.56, which placed her tenth in the meet. Murphy
finished just two spots back from Steup with a time of
37:01.02.
Up next, junior Sal Perdomo will
compete in the steeplechase at the Dr. Keeler Invite Friday night,
while Trinity will host its Last Stand meet on Sunday. That
meet will be held at Incarnate Word, due to construction at
Trinity's track stadium.
