Box Score Naperville, Illinois - Senior Corey Callahan's
performance in the heptathlon currently places her 23rd in the
nation, making her the highest ranking Trinity track and field
athlete in any event.
Her point total of 4,310 was a huge improvement from her last
time out: 219 points to be exact. It puts her second all-time for
Trinity in the event. In addition to her excellent
performance in the overall heptathlon, she also notched personal
bests in four of the seven events. These include the 100m hurdles
(15.77), the shot put (8.57 meters), the 800 meter (2:27.44), and
the long jump (5.64 meters).
Even more impressive is that Callahan's mark in the long jump
was not only a new school record, breaking her own previous best
jump of 5.54 meters, but it also has her tied for 28th in the
nation. She placed second overall in the heptathlon, finishing
first in the long jump and second in the 800 meters.
In other multis action, senior Ryan Gill finished
third overall in the decathlon with a score of 5,835 points. Like
Callahan, that total puts him second all-time for Trinity in the
event. Gill had a personal best in the pole vault, jumping 3.30
meters, and in the 1,500 meters, running 4:54.43. He placed first
in the javelin with a throw of 50.19 meters and finished second in
the 1500 meter run.
