Box Score San Antonio – The Tiger men's and
women's track & field teams have both earned All-Academic
status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association.
To earn the distinction, track & field programs must
maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or better (on a 4.0 scale) during
the academic year. A total of 137 women's teams
qualified, while just 74 men's teams were honored for
2011-12.
Additionally, two Trinity women earned individual All-Academic
honors this past season. Rosemary Steup and Corey Callahan
were two of just seven honored in the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference.
Qualifying individually requires a GPA of 3.30 or better, and
either participation in the NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championships,
or a ranking in the top 35 nationally in an individual event.
Trinity's track & field teams were led by Head Coach
David Svoboda during the 2011-12 season, but resigned his position
in May. Marcus Whitehead, who served as assistant coach last
year, has since taken over the head coaching duties, and will begin
his first season at the helm of the Tigers in 2012-13.
