San Antonio - Trinity Tigers junior midfielders Emily Jorgens (Austin, TX/Westwood) and Kelsey Falcone have been named to the D3soccer.com Women's All-America Team.
Additionally, Jorgens was named the D3soccer.com Midfielder of the Year. Jorgens was selected for the All-America First Team, and Falcone made the All-America Second Team.
Both players were instrumental in the Tigers run to the NCAA Division III Championship game, played at San Antonio's Toyota Field. Trinity defeated Middlebury (VT) College 2-1 in the semifinals, and lost 0-2 to to William Smith (NY) College in the final.
Jorgens was a D3soccer.com Second Team All-American in 2012, and a Third Team honoree in 2011. Earlier, Jorgens was elected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America First Team. Last year, she made the NSCAA All-America Second team.
The talented Jorgens received a number of high awards and accolades this season: Capital One Academic All-American of the Year, NCAA Elite 89 Award (highest grade point average - 4.00 - at the NCAA semifinals and final), selection as an NSCAA Scholar All-American, a slot on the NCAA All-Tournament Team, election to the NSCAA All-Region Team, and garnered a coaches' vote as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
Jorgens led the Tigers with 66 points, scoring 18 goals (seven game-winners) and 30 assists. She tied the NCAA Division III single-season record for assists with 30.
Falcone was a first time D3soccer.com All-America selection. She also made the NSCAA All-America Second Team, and the NSCAA Scholar All-America Second Team (3.50 GPA). Falcone was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, the NSCAA All-Region Team, and the All-SCAC Team.
She was the Tigers leader with 21 goals scored this season (five game-winners), while also shelling out 14 assists.
Trinity 10th-year Head Coach Lance Key led the Tigers to a 25-1-2 record, as the Tigers set a school mark for wins in a season. The Tigers competed in their fifth straight NCAA Tournament (ninth in the past 10 years), and won an eighth SCAC Championship under Coach Key's leadership.
