Box Score

San Antonio - The Tiger men's and women's track & field teams posted numerous personal records during this weekend's University of Incarnate Word Invitational.

Trinity broke 24 personal records and had seven different athletes move into the top 10 on the school's all-time performance list.  Four Tigers also finished in the top six overall in the meet, which featured a mix of Division II and Division III competition, as well as numerous unattached athletes.

Four Trinity runners set new personal bests in the 200 meter dash, led by Salome Wilfred's time of 26.31 and Bailey Drury's finish of 26.35.  The two Tigers are now fourth and fifth in school history, respectively, in the event.

Also running to a new personal record was Rebecca Earle in a time of 28.08, and Mike McIntosh on the men's side.  McIntosh finished in 23.09 seconds to lead the Tigers.  Tolley St. Clair narrowly missed her three-year-old personal best by just .01 seconds, as she finished in a time of 26.81.  Nicholas Wilson threw a personal best 31.67 meters in the discus for the men's team.

Jessie Dean and Emily Shiraki finished in the top six in their events over the weekend.  Shiraki was third with a height of 3.08 meters in the pole vault, while Dean was sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with her time of 66.29 in the race.

Elana Edwards for the women and George Warren for the men both finished fourth in the high jump event.  Edwards completed a height of 1.60 meters, while Warren reached 1.80 meters for the Tigers.

The distance runners broke several personal records, led by Vanessa Moreno and Sal Perdomo in the 5,000 meter race.  Perdomo raced home in 15:02.40 for the second-best time in school history, while Moreno's time of 17:36.62 was the fourth-fastest ever for the Tigers.

Maddie Murphy (seventh), Michelle Oberndorf (eighth), and Jackie Newell (ninth) all earned personal best times that put them in the top 10 in school history.  Also running personal bests in the 5K were Nicola Hill, Jessica Needle, Mary Claire Molina, and Ingrid Harb.  Mariana Sigala's time of 5:07.01 in the 1,500 meter dash was also a personal record.

In addition to Perdomo, eight Tiger men's distance runners established new personal records in the 5K over the weekend.  Mark Greene and Gerardo Hernandez both joined Perdomo in finishing in under 16 minutes.  Taylor Piske, Phillip Flagg, Chris Soto, Brandon Douglas, Sam Lee, and Brandon Wilson also ran their career fastest times in the race.

Trinity returns to action at the IBC Bank Cactus Cup in Kingsville, Texas, on Saturday, March 16 at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
