Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's men's and women's
track & field teams enjoyed a successful home meet on Friday,
posting several personal records at the Tiger Relays.

The Tiger women's 4x100 meter relay team highlighted the meet
with a new school-record time of 48.95 seconds. The team was
made up of Mary Kate Stewart, Salome Wilfred, Tolley St. Clair, and
Bailey Drury. The previous record of 49.22 seconds was set in
2007.
The 4x400 meter relay team also posted the fourth-fastest time
in school history, finishing in 4:00.59 on Friday. Drury and
Wilfred also competed in that race, joined by Jessie Dean and
Mariana Sigala. The Tiger relay team is less than three
seconds from the team record.
Indvidually, Stewart also set a new personal record in the 100
meter dash, winning her heat in a time of 12.88 seconds.
Drury raced home in 59.29 in the 400 meter dash, setting a
new personal best in the event as well. Dean also had a solid
performance in the 400, finishing in 60.56.
On the men's side, Sal Perdomo won the 1,500 meter run with a
time of 3:58.25, which was the fastest time in his career.
Tiger women's runners Nicola Hill and Jessica Needle also set
a new personal record in the 1,500, finishing in 5:03.3 and
5:03.13, respectively, and went 1-2 in their heat.
The 10,000 meter run featured three new personal records for
Trinity runners. Pancho Escobedo was first among collegiate
runners with his time of 32:31, while Taylor Piske was fourth with
a time of 33:05 in the race. Jackie Newell finished first
among women's runners in the event, finishing in 38:45 for her
personal best time.
Darian Sommers raced to the finish in 11.38 seconds in the 100
meter dash for his new personal best, while Rudy Esparza posted his
best time (1:58.41) in the 800 meter run as well.
Two Tigers stood out among several good performances in field
events. Justin Campbell continued his strong season with a
toss of 42.37 meters in the hammer throw, which is the second-best
mark in Trinity history.
Anecia Richardson threw 32.75 meters in the shot put to earn a
spot in the top 10 all-time at Trinity (seventh). Richardson
was a standout for the Tiger women's basketball team during the
winter season, and is now looking to make her mark in track &
field as well.
Trinity returns to action next weekend at the David Noble Relays
in San Angelo, Texas. The meet is hosted by Angelo State
University, and will be the first of four meets for the Tiger teams
during the month of April.
