Trinity Track & Field Sweeps SCAC Athlete of the Week Awards

Box Score

San Antonio - The Tiger men's and women's track & field teams swept all four of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week awards.

Senior Sal Perdomo and junior George Warren swept the men's Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Week honors, while junior Vanessa Moreno and first-year Anecia Richardson won the same honors for the women's track & field team.

Perdomo was second in his section of the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Mt. SAC Relays over the weekend, clocking a time of 9:11.08 in the event.  The time is the fifth-fastest in Division III this season, and breaks the Tiger record for the steeple.

Warren reached a season-best 1.95 meters in the high jump at the Duckett Twilight, hosted by Rice University.  The mark leads all SCAC competition this season.

Moreno joined Perdomo at the Mt. SAC Relays, and posted the second-fastest time in school history in her first-ever 10,000 meter run.  Moreno's time of 36:09.11 ranks her eighth nationally in the event.

Richardson scored her season-best in the shot put at the Duckett Twilight, throwing 11.26 meters.  Hers is also the top shot put mark in the SCAC this season.

Trinity will host the SCAC Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships this weekend.  The festivities open with the hammer throw and 10K on Friday evening, with the rest of the events being held on Saturday, April 27.
