Campbell Named SCAC Character & Community Athlete of the Week

San Antonio - Trinity senior Justin Campbell has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Character and Community Male Student-Athlete of the Week.

Campbell (Victoria, TX/Memorial) was Trinity's top men's points earner at last month's SCAC Track & Field Championships. He captured the hammer throw, shot put, and discus for the conference champion Tigers, who hosted the meet.

Currently, Campbell is seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in international business, along with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies (East Asia concentration).

In the spring of 2011, he participated in Trinity's Study Abroad program in Beijing, and then returned to China last summer for an internship at Shanghai.  The internship was with the Pudong Institute for the U.S. Economy.

Campbell competed in both football and track and field over his collegiate career. In 2009, he earned All-American honors by finishing third in the discus at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships. Campbell was also elected to the All-Academic Team by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. He is a five-time SCAC champion in track and field.

As a Tiger football offensive lineman, Campbell was named to the 2009 All-SCAC Honorable Mention Team.

Campbell is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Golden Key International Honor Society. He also earned the distinction of being a member of Trinity's Dean's List for three semesters. Additionally, Campbell was the 2011 recipient of the James A. Read Academic Achievement Award. Last fall, Campbell was a speaker at the Trinity University International Business Symposium. He has been an active member of the National Honor Society since coming to Trinity in 2008.
