Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's men's and women's track
& field team members Will Paulus, Steven Mason, Mariana Sigala,
and Kelsey Oelze have swept the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards.
Paulus was the SCAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while
Steven Mason earned SCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Oelze won the Women's Field Athlete of the Week award, while
Sigala took Track Athlete of the Week recognition.
All four student-athletes had excellent showings
last weekend at the Country Inn and Suites Islanders Open at Corpus
Christi, Texas. Trinity was the only Division III team competing at
the meet hosted by Texas A&M University-Corpus
Christi.
Paulus ran a personal-best time of 50.40 seconds
in the 400-meters, then raced to the finish in 23.26 seconds in the
200-meter dash.
The versatile Mason posted a mark of 10.94
meters in the shot put, and registered 39.02 meters in the javelin
throw.
In the 800 meters, Sigala ran the event in 2:20.19,
finishing fourth overall in a race against Division I and Division
II athletes.
Oelze posted a mark of 10.37 meters in the shot put,
and registered 34.97 meters in javelin, to finish in third
place.
Trinity will compete Saturday at the Cactus Cup
at Kingsville, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M
University-Kingsville. The Tiger relays are slated for March 28, at
the Trinity Track and Field/Football Stadium.
