Box Score Kingsville, Texas - Trinity's men's and
women's track & field teams enjoyed standout performances at
the Cactus Cup, hosted by Texas A&M University-Kingsville on
Saturday.
In a meet dominated by non-Division III schools, Trinity was
able to stand out with several top performances in both the men's
and women's events.
The Tiger women were led by Jackie Newell's win in the 3000
meter steeplechase with a time of 11:38.84 - winning the event by
nearly 25 seconds. Sarah Picket also had a good showing in
the high jump, tying for fourth place by hitting a mark of 1.53
meters.
Bailey Drury and Salome Wilfred both had strong performances in
the 100 meter dash. Drury finished 11th overall with her time
of 12.66, while Wilfred was 15th with a time of 12.95 seconds.
The two Tigers were tops among Division III runners.
On the men's side, George Warren finished second in the high
jump with a height of 2.01 meters. Ian Plantz finished third
in the 800 meter dash with his time of 1:57.64, racing to the line
less five seconds from the winner.
Will Paulus took 13th overall in the 400 meter dash, leading all
D-III runners with his time of 50.54 seconds. Vincent Omegba
finished fifth by reaching 12.49 meters in the triple
jump.
Trinity returns to action this week, hosting the Tiger Relays on
Friday, March 28, at the Trinity Track & Field Stadium.
