Box Score San Antonio - First-year Britney Sullivan led the way for the Tiger track & field teams by winning the women's long jump event at the University of the Incarnate Word Quadrangular Invitational on Friday.
Sullivan posted a personal-record jump of 5.56 meters, which is the second all-time mark in Trinity history, and is ranked first on the NCAA Division III national list.
Stephen Mason won the men's shot put with a personal best 13.18 meters, and placed third in the hammer throw at 30.48 meters. David Stroud was the first-place finisher in the long jump with a personal-record 6.46 meters. Miro Ronac Giannone registered a personal-best throw in the javelin of 37.56 meters, good for a fifth-place finish.
Faith Deckard was runner-up in the women's shot put, with a personal-record mark of 10.33 meters. Rebecca Earle also had a personal-best posting in the long jump, of 9.04 meters and a fourth-place finish.
UIW, Trinity, Texas Lutheran University, Huston-Tillotson College, and Our Lady of the Lake University are competing in the two-day event. The final day of action is scheduled to begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with both track and field events. Only field events took place Friday, as distance running competition was suspended because of inclement weather.
