San Antonio - Trinity first-years Louie Montoto and Faith Deckard have been selected as the respective Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week.

Each student-athlete turned in superb performances at the Trinity Invitational March 27. The Tiger women won the NCAA Division III events and Trinity's men placed second at the meet. The competition included athletes from all NCAA Divisions and the NAIA.

Montoto took over the SCAC lead in the high jump with a mark of 1.93 meters. Finishing fourth overall, his jump is tied for third best in the Trinity record books. Montoto also came in seventh in the triple jump, at 12.43 meters, good for second place this season in the conference. He stands fifth in the SCAC long jump, and placed 16th at the meet at 5.40 meters.

Deckard placed third in the shot put and 11th in the discus throw. She posted a mark of 10.87 meters in the shot put, and now leads the SCAC competition. In addition, her achievement is seventh-best in Trinity history. Deckard's discus throw of 27.94 meters is ranked fourth in the conference this year.

The Tigers will compete Saturday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, California.
