San Antonio - Trinity finished off the second full day of action at the USTA/ITA Southwest Region Championships by ushering in its top two singles players and two doubles teams to Sunday's main draw semifinals.

The top-seeded tournament players, Tiger standouts Adam Krull and Paxton Deuel, advanced to the “A” Singles semifinals.  Krull and Matt Tyer, along with Wilson Lambeth and Cameron Bilsbarrow, are now one win from reaching the "A" Doubles title match.

Krull, the No. 1 seed and defending Regional champion, beat fifth-seeded Niko Snovely of Southwestern University 6-1, 6-4 in Saturday's quarterfinals on Trinity's courts. The second-seeded Deuel was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over No. 6 Gabriel Borunda of Concordia University.  Krull will take on No. 3 Daniel Budd of the University of Texas-Tyler in Sunday's semifinals, and Deuel meets No. 4 Arthur Fagundes, also of UT-Tyler. Budd defeated No. 7 Chas Mayer of Trinity 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals, and Fagundes beat eighth-seeded Wilson Lambeth, a Tiger newcomer, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

The third-seeded duo of Krull and Matt Tyer bested No. 6 Snovely and Grant Gideon of Southwestern 8-3 in the quarterfinals. The Trinity team will meet the No. 2 duo of Fagundes and Frankie Fischer of UT-Tyler. Lambeth and Bilsbarrow edged UT-Tyler's Pablo Gomez and Jose McIntyre 9-7, and will face Ryan Ellwood and Jack Puckey, also from UT-Tyler. Ellwood and Puckey upset the top-seeded Trinity team of Mayer and Eliot Guin 8-2.

The main-draw singles semifinals are scheduled to get under way at 8:00 a.m. at the Butch Newman Tennis Center, and the championship will be held at noon. The doubles semifinals and final will be scheduled. The “A” Singles and Doubles winners advance to the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships October 15-18 at Sumter, South Carolina. There is also competition in “B” Singles and Doubles, “C” Singles, and consolation play.
