Box Score Houston, Texas - Trinity sophomore Britney Sullivan posted a mark of 11.71 meters in the women's triple jump event at the Indoor Houston Invitational & Multi's, highlighting Saturday's action for the Tiger teams.
Sullivan's performance "should be ranked as high as No. 2" in the qualifying for the DIII Indoor nationals, according to Trinity's Head Track and Field Coach Marcus Whitehead. The NCAA DIII Indoor Championships are slated for March 11-12 at Grinnell, Iowa. Last year, Sullivan competed in the DIII Outdoor Championships, and finished 19th in the triple jump at Canton, New York.
"All around we had a great day," said Head Coach Marcus Whitehead. "There were some elite fields here, and we came out with several national rankings. Britney should make indoor nationals with her performance (in the triple jump), so it's always a good meet when you can come away with a big mark like that."
Nkolika Nweke registered a time of 7.91 seconds in the women's 60 meters, and is expected to be ranked in the top-20 in the nation. Cody Hall clocked in at 8.45 seconds in the men's 60-meter hurdles, and will be on the top-15 list.
Approximately 20 Tiger student-athletes competed against NCAA Division I and other entrants at the two-day event. Trinity's track and field teams return to the Houston campus February 12-13 for the University of Houston Indoor Invitational.
