Box Score Houston, Texas - Trinity completed its final indoor meet of the season with several strong performances at the University of Houston's Howie Ryan Invitational on Friday.
Nkolika Nweke registered a personal-best time of 7.84 seconds in the women's 60 meters to solidify her standing in the Division III rankings this season. She is on track to compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships March 11-12 at Grinnell, Iowa.
The Houston meet was a testing ground for the Tigers, as they went up against Division I and II athletes. Head Coach Marcus Whitehead was impressed with the results: "There were a lot of really strong performances today. Nkolika started the day off with a PR in the 60 with a time that will rank her in the top 17 in the country. Our distance runners in the 3k ran amazing and all came home with new PR's. Overall, I really felt like we didn't shy away from the mostly Division I competition."
In the women's 3,000 meters, Emma MacEachern posted a time of 10:54.69, and Molly McCullough came in at 10:56.16. Melissa Whitman crossed the finish line in 11:08. 65. Taylor Piske paced the Tiger men in the 3k, clocking in at 8:52.49. Jacob Hammond ran the race in 9:00.52.
The Tigers will host the Trinity Open Outdoor track and field meet February 27.
