Adam Krull Wins SCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week Award

San Antonio - Trinity senior All-American Adam Krull has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

Krull paced the fifth-seeded Tigers to a fifth-place finish last weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Indoor National Championships at Pepper Pike, Ohio. The tenacious Krull went undefeated at No. 2 singles, all against players from nationally ranked teams.

The Tigers opened the event with a 6-3 loss to the fourth-seeded University of Chicago. Trinity bounced back to upset top seed Washington University-St. Louis 7-2 in the first consolation match, and then defeated No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges 6-3 to capture fifth place. Trinity is ranked eighth in the ITA national poll, Washington is third, Pomona-Pitzer is fourth, and Chicago stands at No. 6.

Krull won in straight sets against his Chicago opponent, then fought back to defeat the Washington-St. Louis player in three sets. A two-sets win over a Pomona-Pitzer player wrapped up Krull's weekend. Krull has a 5-3 singles record this season, and is 5-4 in doubles.

The Tigers improved to a 5-4 overall record, and a 4-1 mark against Division III teams.Trinity will host two matches Sunday at the Butch Newman Tennis Center. Up first will be a 10:00 a.m. matchup with St. Mary's (TX) University, ranked 35th in Division II. Laredo Community College comes to campus for a 4:00 p.m. match. LCC holds a No. 14 ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
